Loggerheads Res 1 v 4 Cheadle SMU
Sunday 27/09/20

After a nervy few hours this morning with players dropping like flies before we even kicked off it was great to see once we got underway an early goal from Kash Gill cutting inside from the right hand side and driving a solid low footed shot with his left weaker foot into the bottom corner after just 3 minutes.

On a really small narrow pitch Loggerheads made it very difficult for us to play our usual passing game, but after 11 minutes some route one football resulted in Oli Teague sending a lovely chip over the keeper from a great long ball by our keeper Otty.

After 24 minutes Kall Humphries Shutt went into a 50/50 tackle in midfield resulting in a turned ankle, Joel Hancock coming on to replace him.

The first half continued with Cheadle creating plenty of chances but not being clinical enough to take them. And right on half time a free kick to loggerheads with a lovely ball long ball into the box almost resulted in a goal against with the header just going wide.

At half time we spoke about being more clinical and looking to put the game to bed as soon as possible.

Just 4 minutes into the second half with a lovely movement down the left Alex Shaw cut inside to score another good goal, 3-0 up at 49 minutes.

Then literally 2 minutes later a speculative shot by loggerheads that bounced awkwardly in front of our keeper ended up with the ball in the back of the net giving loggerheads some added incentive.

The game continued back and forward with loggerhead coming on strong until some great midfield chasing back by Kash Gill winning a ball he had no right to win led to some lovely football with Alex Shaw putting the ball on a plate for Joel Hancock to tap in making it 1-4 after 67 minutes.

Despite a strong finish by Loggerheads as well as picking up another injury to James Boswell Cheadle managed to see the game out 1-4.

Man of the match went to Robbie Charlesworth our captain for an absolutely solid performance in midfield closely followed by Kash Gill for his brilliant first goal and non stop energy.

Onwards and upwards to our next game on Sunday 04th October away to Hampton Metals
